A drive north through the dramatic scenery of Hvalfjörður fjord to West Iceland's own circle. See the Hraunfossar lava falls trickling out of a lava field, the churning Barnafoss rapids, and Deildartunguhver — the most powerful geothermal spring in Europe, pumping out boiling water you can feel from metres away. We return to Reykjavík through the Hvalfjörður tunnel, 5,762 m long and up to 165 m below sea level. Far fewer crowds than the Golden Circle, just as much to see.
