Iceland, At Your Own Pace

Golden Circle

Iceland's most famous route, driven privately at your own pace. You stand in the rift valley at Þingvellir where the North American and Eurasian plates pull apart, watch Strokkur erupt at the Geysir field, and feel the spray off the two-tier Gullfoss waterfall.

Silver Circle

The west's quieter answer to the Golden Circle. Deildartunguhver pushes out more hot water than any spring in Europe, Hraunfossar seeps straight out of a lava field into the river, and Reykholt was the home of the saga writer Snorri Sturluson.

Reykjanes & Krýsuvík

The volcanic peninsula where the Mid-Atlantic Ridge surfaces on land. Steaming ground at Seltún, the deep blue Kleifarvatn, a bridge between two continental plates and lava from the recent eruptions. Pairs naturally with an airport day.

South Coast

Two of Iceland's best-known waterfalls, a black-sand beach framed by basalt sea stacks, and the southernmost village of Vík. You can walk behind Seljalandsfoss, and the Atlantic surf at Reynisfjara is unlike anywhere else.

Snæfellsnes Peninsula

Often called Iceland in miniature: a glacier-capped volcano, black beaches, lava fields, fishing villages and Kirkjufell, the most photographed mountain in the country — with a fraction of the south-coast traffic.

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon

Icebergs calve off Vatnajökull, drift across the lagoon and wash back up on the black sand of Diamond Beach. Around five hours' driving each way, so a genuine full day with an early start — or a relaxed two-day trip.

Northern Lights Hunt

A private aurora hunt where the route is decided on the night. Your guide watches the forecast and the cloud map and drives to wherever the sky is clearest — which a fixed-route coach tour cannot do. Sightings depend on the weather and can never be guaranteed.

North Iceland & Akureyri

Iceland's second city at the head of the long Eyjafjörður, with Goðafoss on the way in. About five hours' driving each way, so most guests prefer to add an overnight and take in Húsavík as well.
